I can't even stand to read this, it makes me so mad inside. I don't need the details, I know the Borg...
They have plotted and planned and raised lawyers and know the law, and are evil.

"scripture can be likened to a lamp which illuminates the truth.
it's mission is to shed the light of truth.
when a brighter light appears, the mission of the old one fades.
It is amazing how many religions/ cults say the same thing as the WT.
They are not unique, but they make you feel like you are.... just like all those other religions do...
as we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

Altho we sliced and diced the Nov 2011 WT about 607 apart using the WT quotes themselves, we used the internet too look up the references they gave. Then we used the internet to look up court cases, read depositions, letters to bodies of elders, etc.
We used the internet to confirm what we had come to conclusions to already... Coming here, to this site, we could not believe that 607 had been discussed / discovered/ disproven for so many years! Thanks to all who put in so much hard work!
if you are/were an active jw, you are now here on jwn so, for whatever your reasons, you woke up to some degree- hopefully a great degree.
so what i am saying may not apply to you.. i know that if i had not already left, i would have stormed out on the day they studied "overlapping generation.
" i am quite confident i couldn't have stayed for such an obvious switcharoo just to make the end seem imminent and try to explain how wts was wrong, but not entirely wrong in the past.. but i had to wonder how that change (or others) didn't cause most jw's to walk out.
Very interesting, as I am always analyzing, "What can I say to 'crack the egg'?"
In other words, I think that once a crack into the armor of JW's thinking is made, more info can flow into it. Having your wife think about subjects that are just like JW subjects/ controversies/ hypocrocies I think is a good idea, as later, it will alow her brain to 'take that route.'
Just as the WT repeats, repeats, repeats, and things are grooved / etched into our brains, so too can WE start etching new grooves that will allow info to be routed there...
If your wife hates it when people lie in court, and the pedophiles gets away, and kids get hurt when priests get moved from church to church, then she will have a hard time saying "it's ok for the WT lawyers to lie in court" or "it's ok that we didn't know that a pedophile was in our congregation"...
My mom started studying when I was five... I am now 59, and i would not want to live a lie.... It was a bit hard at first, as I thought I had a very cozy future planned out for me by the creator of the universe. However, as nice as that seemed, I would never, ever, ever want to support an organization that lies, and uses people and harms people. Life is too precious.

Thank you Ann, thank you ALL, for sorting thru, for providing links, for providing simple "let's tell it like it is, boiler-downs" (wow, I like that word)
My mother DID study all of this in the late 50's, I DID go thru all the type/anti-type garbage mumbo-jumbo through out my precious teenage years, spending eons trying to remember which type/ anti-type was which...
SOMEhow, just having other people acknowledge reality is quite a bit of solace.....
thanks......
as jws "celebrate" a century of failed prophecy and cover-ups, what could we look forward to in their next 100 years?
how much longer can they remain relevant in this ever changing society?.
Thanks for our new word Phizzy, you have started a tradition here... (Word for the day)
Anachronism: : a person or a thing that is chronologically out of place;especially : one from a former age that is incongruous in the present
All summed up in "A" word.
as jws "celebrate" a century of failed prophecy and cover-ups, what could we look forward to in their next 100 years?
how much longer can they remain relevant in this ever changing society?.
so whatever road to hell they take the faithful down, they will
have all them dumb schmucks looking forward to the trip.
Sooooo true... willing sacrifices.
Good call Ann, we cannot t forget one of the WT's fave words.... "evidently"
oh, and let's not forget what a prime role pyramidology played until 1928! when "evidently" the pyramid became known as "Satan's stone witness." (Before that, Adam was 'evidently' the first pharoah, buried in the sphinx. So funny, it makes you cry )
i got a call today from jw relative, wondering why i haven't answered correspondance.. no, i haven't called or written some jws in my life for a while.
i have chosen to not respond, or not quickly respond, to their inquiries.
yes, i've even blocked some from my social media and e-mail accounts.
You know what is interesting to me? I hear phrases/ descriptions of JW thinking from all over the world here, and I have heard & know the same phrases, reactions, etc. We ALL know what an epidemic it is. These experiences show how much 'mind control ' actually exists. Their brains are "one" with "the master." So sad, so true.
My dear son took a family in, who was in need of housing after a failed move to another state. This family of five lived with he and his wife for over a year. They became like family. After this recent 'telling the truth, standing up for what is right and for kids,' the men in our family were DF'd. My son was at a car wash recently, saw the wife and daughter come in (they didn't recognize him) he said "Hi".... She started to reply, with a smile, and a 'hi,' when she realized who he was .... "an apostate" who had once been one of the dearest people in their lives...
Interestingly, she and her daughter decided to wait outside, in the cold, for their turn for service, but after 15 minutes returned to say "Well, we decided it is taking too long, we must go back "out in service."" She then gave some schpiel about "JW.Org" is the best place to go for help in this sad world, "you'll find all your answers there," and gave her a magazine. No scriptures, no nothing, just jw.org...
After they had gone, my son went to pay for his service, and said, 'you know that lady that just came in? She use to live with me, and when I decided to change my religion, she won't even talk to me.' The girl behind the counter said, "Weird!" and that was the best 'witness' ever.
My husband says, "One day he would like to achieve the attitude expressed by all on this thread." He feels like he has to be "all in" to defeat the "Big Boss" in many of the video games. Win or lose, he then wants to have the strength of your self esteem that remains intact.
to my nephew,.
your other aunt phoned my non-jw cousin, so i know your wife is expecting a baby in the new year.
congratulations!
We have just spent the weekend with family. Family that we never got the chance to know because "other things were more important."
Things like: Building K Halls for an organization, that later had no problem boot kicking us out because we told the truth, stuck up for victims of child abuse.
Things like: Going to elder's meetings to 'solve everyone else's problems except our own', for people that now will turn their backs on us because we will not compromise and lie about this organization's beginnings. We never had the chance to know all the lies in the name of 'new light' they have told over the decades until modern technology made it possible. (How else can you find all the old books? Tho we actually did buy many of them "just to make sure were not being tricked by apostates." )
Things like: Making it home to our home congregation to make sure 'the flock was taken care of', we couldn't spend the WHOLE weekend away. Why not spend the time with your "worldly family." (Do you see? nothing besides the organization is worth it)
Things like: Going out in service, attending meetings, when really, how many people did we talk to? Hmmm? How many people did we realllllly help"? Hours and hours and miles and miles wasted circling blocks, writing "Not at Homes" down... We could have been bonding with our children, creating memories.
Things like: Going to meetings, assemblies, conventions, volunteering for so many pointless things. Really, as I look back over 50 years of 'servitude' I see that topics, themes of assemblies merely repeat, repeat, repeat... So why do we need to hear them alllll the time? It was like a hamster wheel. So busy you never have time to live. To love. To enjoy life. All is put off for the hope of "the future."
The sad thing is, when you look into those old books, hear those old talks, investigate the past, you realize that this organization has been doing this for years. Promising that the 'end is near,' 'we are the chosen ones,' 'listen to us.'
To me, raised as a person who should tell the truth, live a good, righteous life like Jesus, be honest, care for people, care for children... when you see behind 'the curtain,' experience the cold, chilling realities of WT lawyers, there is no other choice but to stand up for what is right. How can I honestly say, "God is with them." If God or Jesus would not allow this trickery, this abuse of children, why should the "faithful" slave?
Did Jesus quote law to excuse his "not helping the man beside the road?" No, exactly the opposite. WT lawyers quote state law so easily, so coldly, "We are not required to report it in this state," that how can they realllllllly call themselves 'disciples of Christ?'
What happened when there was controversy of 'eating grain on the Sabbath' between the Phariseees and Jesus disciples? Did Jesus allow them to just quote Hebrew law? No.
When lawyers quote the "we need two witnesses" rule when confronted with child abuse, for not reporting a crime to the police, would that be like JESUS or the Pharisees?
Please investigate what is happening, just like you tell other people to do. I have an Awake magazine that makes my blood boil when I read it... It tells other people, of other religions to 'test out' to 'investigate' to 'not drink water with one drop of poison'... the hypocrisy of disfellowshipping someone for doing exactly what you tell others to do is sad.
If I had read the Finished Mystery book when young, I never would have joined. It is very crazy. If you had read the FM book, not knowing what it was, you really would think it is loony, and if someone asked you to join this person in their beliefs, you really would run away.
I have to ask, if TRUTH is TRUTH, why can't it stand up to scrutiny? Why are you afraid of examining 'TRUTH'?
